The Smart Talk is a collaboration between The National PTA and NortonLifeLock to encourage families to set rules to use the internet wisely. The Smart Talk helps families and kids talk about using digital devices responsibly and decide a few important questions together, like: What are they allowed to post on social media? What should their privacy settings be and what apps can they download? How much screen time is ok? Once those questions have been answered, a custom agreement is created, which can be printed and signed so that all of the ground rules are easily remembered by everyone. When you visit The Smart Talk, you’ll have the opportunity to work with your child to create your own set of internet rules. It’s really easy to do. Here’s how it works:
- Have your child join you to make your internet rules together.
- Answer a series of questions to come up with your ground rules.
- Print out your agreement and sign it. Place it somewhere easy to see.
